Lowtide Extensions — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 June 2026 · Publisher: Lowtide
Lowtide builds calm, private browser tools. Every Lowtide extension is private by design: no data is collected, no network requests are made, and everything stays on your device.
General principle (applies to all Lowtide extensions)
Lowtide extensions do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no logins, no analytics, no trackers, and no network requests initiated by any Lowtide extension.
Wisp
Wisp is a browser extension that suspends inactive tabs to free up memory.
What Wisp accesses — and why (all on your device)
- Your open tabs (title, URL, audible state): to decide which inactive tabs to put to sleep and to never sleep a tab you are using. This never leaves your device.
- Page content, via a content script on the sites you visit: only to detect whether a tab is playing media or has unsaved form input (so it is not slept), and to restore your scroll position and typed text when a slept tab wakes. Wisp does not read, store, or transmit the contents of your pages. Passwords are never captured.
- Local storage (
chrome.storage): to keep your settings and your never-sleep list on your device.
What Wisp does NOT do
- No data collection, telemetry, or analytics.
- No server or network communication initiated by the extension.
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising, tracking, or fingerprinting.
- No selling, sharing, or transferring of data (there is none to share).
Wisp permissions
Wisp requests tabs, alarms, storage, contextMenus, and host access to web pages solely to provide its single function — sleeping inactive tabs locally. None of these are used to gather data about you.
Harbor
Harbor is a browser extension that saves and restores tab sessions. It keeps a full history of your sessions and lets you back them up to files on your device.
What Harbor accesses — and why (all on your device)
- Your open tabs and tab groups (title, URL, group name/color): to save and restore your sessions. This data never leaves your device.
- Local storage (
chrome.storage + IndexedDB): to keep your session history, collections, and settings on your device. Nothing is synced to any server.
- Downloads: solely to let you export a backup file (JSON) of your sessions to your own Downloads folder. Harbor never uploads files anywhere — the download is a one-way write to your local disk.
- Side panel: to display the Harbor UI in the browser side panel. No data flows out through this.
- Alarms: to schedule periodic auto-backups of your sessions to your local Downloads folder.
What Harbor does NOT do
- No data collection, telemetry, or analytics.
- No server or network communication of any kind — Harbor makes zero outbound requests.
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising, tracking, or fingerprinting.
- No selling, sharing, or transferring of data (there is none to share).
- Backup files are written only to your own device's Downloads folder; they are never uploaded anywhere.
Harbor permissions
Harbor requests tabs, tabGroups, storage, unlimitedStorage, alarms, downloads, and sidePanel. All are used solely to save, display, and back up your sessions locally on your device. None are used to gather or transmit data about you.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in each extension's store listing.
